Default Question for anyone who's ITR was stolen and never recovered...

Well, tomorrow makes 3 weeks that my R was stolen. Nothing has turned up either.

Tomorrow my payoff should take place(crosses fingers), and I want to know if any other owners were paid accordingly, or taken for a ride.

My '01 had 21k and was in immaculate condition. I've located a few R's in the area via autotrader, that are 00 or 01, with more mileage and in worse condition or modded. These cars are going for $22,900-24,500. My claim rep told me they do not pay bluebook value, they pay what it would cost for them to replace the car. I hope she takes this into consideration when calculating my payoff. Being that I work for my insurance company, they may work with me, then again they may not.

I want to know how others made out, so I know what to expect. I just overnighted my documents, including a notarized power of attorney, and a very nice letter to my claim rep. I hope she takes care of me, I want another car SOON.

my car wasn't stolen, but when it was totaled after an accident my insurance did the same thing with trying to pey me what it would cost to replace it, they gave me a few lower numbers and after i sent them some going prices on the cars they gave in, they also gave me an extra 1k for my mods. in the end i made out good 8k for a 94 teg rs last year and it cost me $900 to buy it back to strip all the good parts off

hopefully like you said you might be able to have a bit more pull by working for the company

may i ask what insurance company was covering it?

good luck mike

I bought my '98 for 20k even, in '99, at 1 year to the day it was stolen. they paid me 24,500

I lost 3k in mods

I now have ins with an agreed value of 27K on the '01

its going to depend very much on your insurance company. my car was totalled out by my insurance company, and I got more than I paid for it(I bought it used, WITH a Salvaged title, and I still got more than I paid for it). they gave me an excellent value for the car, however they didnt give me **** for my receipts for the parts I claimed for.

Two cars down for me,one recovered, over $10,000 of mods on each. Ins. pay out never what I hoped. If you have the time, you can get an appraisal on your own if your claim comes out low. Then your ins. co. will go back to the table to negotiate your claim.

thanks for the input guys. My insurance company is prudential, and it's a sweet deal too. I hope they give me the payout I expect. Hopefully I find out tomorrow.

They never found my car....I got really good money for my car($27000CDN for a '98 w/ 115000km). Went back and forth a couple of times, but was pretty smooth and painless. I had a good relationship with my insurance Co.(home, business, family all with them for a long time)

they pay what it would cost for them to replace the car.
Which in some cases may be more than blue book.

I had to have a lawyer call Gieco. They were offering me 16K for it, then I argued that my policy was for "replacement value" well after getting the average from my area they came up with 28k well they freaked and i told them I would take MSRP.

Yep, I sure hope so! I hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot by giving her printouts of the cars 4/s in my area. I guess i'd rather play it safe than sorry. She left me a VM saying she has everything and will be in contact within 24-48hrs.

If they give me what I want, I will be able to pay off my existing loan, and then buy my next pRoject...... Time is of the essence!

I figure you have to claim your parts to your insurance company when you put them on there, otherwise you arent "paying each month" to get them covered...so why would they give you money for it?

Good question. I wondered how that all worked. I'm sure I will get no compensation for my personal items, phone, glasses, cd's & lots of tools.

I wonder about the fog lights, and bra. They could be considered dealer options, even though they were bought and installed later by me. Honda could not get me a recipt for my bra, being over a year old. The only mod I had on it was an aem intake from IPS. I don't have the reciept and I doubt they will give me anything for it anyway.

I should hear my payoff today so I will keep everyone posted.

Your personal stuff should be covered under your homeowners policy...wasn't worth it for me though...had an old PC, a pool cue and a few cd's. Deductible was too high.

i had 18k in reciepts for parts. They worked will with me. I got 28k for my 98R. I told them the engine was just rebuilt so they put zero mileage when doing the appraisal. I was happy. This was 14 months ago though.

My settlement from my insurance was around $18,172 and change for my '98 ITR with 40K plus miles. The car has never been recovered. I thought that was fair considering that I sent them some information about 2 '98 ITR's that were both being sold for around $16 and $17K. I lost about 4K in mods but I new the deal with that before I got the settlement. Plus I got settlements from Autolock and Lojack.

To tell you the truth, I couldn't have been more pleased with the customer service I received from my insurance. This was in light of all the horror stories that I had been hearing about insurance companies, customers, and payoff settlements. After 30 days I got my settlement and there was no owner inquiry about the theft .

It would suprise me if anyone gets $20K for a '98 ITR no matter how many miles.

Well, the insurance company is not working with me here. I've been getting the run around for weeks now. They are having problems gathering enough data from CCC about Type-R sales in my area, which are none. The documentation she sent me yesterday lists 5-6 gs-r's in my area for price comparison, which is total BS! When I first sent in all of my needed paperwork, power of attorney, ect, I also included 4 autotrader listings of r's for sale in my area. Well, once she got to reading them, they were all sold and the dealers would not release for how much. They all were listed for msrp, or 23,900 at the lowest(Davis Acura). They were 00's and 01's, with more mileage than mine.

I found a few more yesterday on autotrader, but they are all modified and worn. They are still asking 22,900-24000 and they have bogus rimz, clearz, hood,no wing, aftermarket seats, ect.

Bottom line is my '01 was immaculate, had the fogs and bra, and 21k mi. My insurance company wants to give me 21k (my deductable is $500) I wrote a long letter yesterday stressing my concerns, and explaining how comparing this to a gs-r is not a valid comparison in any way. I'll find out today what they think...

So, the expo is in 10 days, I have no car and no money. I'm still going, no matter what I have to drive.
