I have "heard" skunk2 are good cams, and my friend has a built civic with skunk2 cams and no problems. I want to get skunk2 stage 2 cams myself. As for the stage 1 I dont know the lift and duration specs. so i cant say. Check them against the prelude type s cams. If they are nearly the same it might be a better investment to stick with oem honda parts. The type s cam is also pretty good for a slightly better street cam, which i am assuming the stage 1 is also for. thats all the info i can give, sorry.

go witht he stage two cams. skunk2 is one of the more popular cams. try a search, you might find some stuff on it. stage one and tw are most likely the same price, just get the stage 2, you wont regret it

i believe that skunk2 "recommends" that you get their springs and retainers for stage two and says definately for stage three. It would be in your best interest to do that for the life span of your engine. Call them and ask what they think.

You sure, I heard that they recommend the valve train upgrades for stage 1 (meaning "you don't need them, but spend $ on our products anyway"). And they require them for stages II and III. Also, I read in SCC that the stage 1 cams are also CARB legal, also a plus for a stret car. And a few GSR/ITR owners said they got respectable results from stage I with proper tuning.

the springs and retainers are only needed for the stage 2s if you plan on reving higher than the stock redline.

if you dont plan on using the stock rev limiter, then dont worry about it

I dont doubt that the stage 1 puts out good power, my post said that you might want to look into type s cams if you just want a good slightly better street cam
