Default Jun3 or Skunk2 cams

I cant decide what cams to buy. I'm going for either stage 2 or 3 cams with upgraded valvetrain.

My friend at a shop I go to all the time told me he can hook me up with skunk2's for $700.00.

Whats the average price for Jun3's? Also what type of valvetrain should I get with this setup? I would also like to know what type of prices to expect for the valvetrain.

Jun3's and Skunk2 Stage 2 are very similar. Skunk2 Stage 3 is Race only cams...

JUN 3's go for about 900 bux. the stage 2's give similar results and is about 2 bills cheaper. I'd go with the skunk's

Yeah, Skunk2 made some pretty decent cams. Stage 1 and Stage 2 both make great power.

I'm starting like them ...

What CR do you have? Please don't tell me 10:1.

if you want to go with the stage 2's or jun 3's i suggest you up your c/r. If you are going to stay with the stock c/r then go with the stage 1's. Just my .02 cents....

Just make sure whatever of the two cams you get, you get the valvetrain upgrade with it. Nothing worse than valve lift...well there are things probably worse but still you know .

Oh, and I see on your info that you have AEM cam gears. You might want to ditch those and get a pair of Skunk2 or something, cause nothing is worse than your gears slipping....wait a minute .

Skunk2 Stage 1's are better for dropping in. With Stage 2's you really need to Dyno Tune them or they won't run as well. Both will do better off after Dyno Tuning (obviously), but the Stage 2's need a valvetrain upgrade, whereas the Stage 1's are perfectly fine with your stock valvetrain (As long as you don't pass your 8200rpm redline).

how muchfor skunk 2 cam gears? how much of a difference do they make alone? and will the vafc help in tunning these? i have a 94 gsr, looking for a few extra ponies, i still need a header also. but would like to get adjustable cam gears first, but do they work well w/ out the actual cams or what?
thx, later

cam gears should be one of the last things u want. u could get them now and have your car tuned. if u get the header later, then it'll have to be re-tuned

kinda doubt its 180ish...StinkyTofu has 11.7 compression w toda Bs and only managed 180whp after tuning by Importbuilders. i'm thinkin along like 170-175 whp at most w/o raised compression.

Well I have some AEM cam gears if anyone is interested. They have not been installed yet. Was planning it this weeked, but if I go with skunk2 cams I'm going to get the cam gears as well.

I think I picked them up for around $150

Seeing how I'm going to have to pull the head to do all this work I'm probably going to send it out to have the port and polish done.

Will a thinner head ghasket suffice for compression? or will I have to go into the bottom end and change out the pistons?
