Well my Aunt has owned a Mugen CRX for well over ten years and way back I had asked her to sell it to me when she was done with it. Turns out she calls me last week and says it's ready for me to buy. I don't know much about it, it's a 1987 Si, red, has a Mugen trim package along with what else, I'm not sure. She has used it as a commuter and babied it. I'm thinking of having a little fun with it. Anyone know much about these cars? Especially the Mugen edition.
It looks very similar to this pic: (Has the CR-X decal and a mugen decal etc)

mugen was offered through dealerships as OEM parts.. kinda like honda has the OEM aftermarket parts, now.. they stopped in the end of 87. imagine what you could do with a time machine.. anyway, try resource.crx.org or http://www.redpepperracing.com..

No fender flares that I can remember. I haven't seen the car in years. I just remember a vague picture in my mind. My Aunt says "It has some moogin stickers on the side and you better watch out because it's a peppy car!" LOL!
Does anyone know what the Mugen parts equiped car may have that the Si doesn't have?

Look a little closer at the bottom of the pic you posted.
I was hoping it atleast had a Mugen header or exhaust.

if the motor and parts are all stock except for the body, you should definitely drop a b16a in that thing.

So I guess it's all esthetics . . .weak

Yes they may have been available in the past but that stuff has been out of production for who knows how long.(I'm sure they are $$$ too) So I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'm going to at least put the PG7 ecu in along with the matching injectors, great info on your site Tom. I'm glad I found it so early in the project.
You gotta let us see some pics of your (hopefully) new ride! They may be pretty ugly to some, but I don't care, post em up.
BTW my car was babied by my aunt since she bought it new, sounds kinda like youre in the same boat...err honda... as me

Dude buy that car. It is worth alot of cash. Even if you part it out it is still worth alot. The front bumper alone is worth about $300US. If I were you I would seriously buy it. If not I will.

As everyone has pointed out, Mugen made a bunch of parts for the 1st Gen and then stopped making and selling those parts soon after the model change to the 2nd Gen. Mugen parts for the 1st Gen are highly sought after, a Mugen body kit is the Holy Grail of the 1st Gen community. I am very lucky to have a Mugen LSD in my '87 Si.
In some markets around the world, it was possible to purchase a 1st Gen CRX with a lot of Mugen parts and it may have been labled a "Mugen" or "Ballad." When Honda introduced the CRX in the US they shipped a few Mugen equipped CRXs to Oaklahoma for the introduction ceremony. It has been said that those cars were then sold to the public in the US and may still exist.
http://resource.crx.org is a great place for CRX information as well as red pepper racing's site.

Funny you bring this up, my freind works at acura and was just looking at the optional equipment catalog for the first gen integra's. They did have a header, intake, exauhst, two decals on the back of the car as well as the windsheild banner, side skirts, a lip spoiler front and rear, suspension, torsion bars, and optional wheels. There were some other parts available, but as a package this is what you can usually expect. Many of these parts are pail in comparison to the mugen racing parts, and were really designed to be sold through the dealer.
I'm very interested in buying the car, if you want to sell? E-mail me if you want to work something out. I have cash. ronin_inc@bellsouth.net
i know where i can get every part needed to make 3 first gen CRX's mugen spec.. but the dealer won't sell them.. everything is new in box, never opened.. it sucks, doesn't it?
