only 20k miles on my s-03??
this is frustrating, i only used them 3 times on auto-x, and the rest on regular driving, and they could only last for about 20k? not any better life than the re010.
more money will be coming out this summer...
i should expect this for all performance tires huh.....
oh...and another comment, driving on uneven roads with these tires (damn boston raods) drives me nuts, the car just drifts left and right.

I was going to get the S-03s, but I picked up the Kumho Ecsta MX instead. TireRack had them neck & neck, except for hydro resistance & treadwear. I saved $40 a tire though, and I'm not a good enough driver to notice the difference anyway.
I'm only expecting 15-20K out of them.

That's probably not to bad for S-03s. I don't know how many autocrosses you did with the RE-010s, but mine were pretty trashed after two. I only had the RE-010s for about 7 months and they were down well below tread wear bars. I probably get about 15-18K (a little more than one year) out of a set of S-03s, but that's with plenty of track days and autocrosses. I'm on my second set and the S-03s hold up to abuse much better than most other max performance tires, certainly better than RE-010 and AVS Intermediates. I will agree with the other comment made about them being kind of skittish on rough roads. I've been happy with the S-03s, but I'm debating if I want to go with a set of Azenis for next set to try them out. From what I've seen, the Azenis will not last as long. Maybe you need to look at something different (and maybe not a grippy) if you want something that will last longer.

i had 35k on stock re010's!!! and i wore them down pretty damn hard, only because of camber wear, too.. the outsides were still not too bad. but those tires even bald are pretty good, i thought
In Scotland in the winter i did in a set of re010s in 2000miles... And no i'v never done a burnout. Enthusiastic driving, rough roads and lots of corners and roundabouts (dont think you guys have them..). None of my fronts have ever lasted over 5000miles.

To the original poster, it has been way to cold for S-03's until about 2 weeks ago. Did you drive on the S03's through the winter, or did you just notice your low tread as you pulled them out for spring?

20k is great for a max performance tire. I never get more than 6-8k miles from any set of tires I use and the s03 seems like it's going to last that long, too.
exactly how long were you expecting them to last? how many miles did your last set of tires go?

You think Autox kills S-03's, take them to the track! The front two tires I used at Gingerman in October have less than half the tread left that the rears have, and all four tires had the same tread before the event!
Looks like I'll also get 20k out of them. I'm very satisfied with the tires.

I drove the s-03 all year, including half of last year's winter. it was fine with me, except in the heavy snow
. I just have to reduce the speed a bit, and drive more conservatively. I don't think i'm getting another s-03. i need a cheaper alternative!! helmet, new tires, track fees just drain my nonexisting money out!

When I first got my 98 R, I had to drive on the RE010's in the snow while I waited for my backordered winter tires to come in. I think I took half the life off of the tires just trying to get up my driveway.
