Default Seats: opinions needed (please).

Hello again,

My type-r like my previous integras is literally killing my back. I don't know if others feel this way or not but the seats on all integras are not the most comfortable ones around. As such I have decided to upgrade my seats before I start having chronic backaches.

Here is my question to you: what seat would you all recommend for best overall comfort, bolstering and ofcourse value? My options so far are (unless you have others in mind) JDM recaros, Sparco Torinos and Momo Street Racer.

Please advise soon. You may have a paralysed Type-r brother on your hands unless I do something about the seats. Just kidding !!!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd be seeing a doctor before spending money on new seats.

I'll second that. I've got lower back issues (soft tissue damage, fused last vertebrae) and the ITR seats are a Godsend. I used to own an 01 LS, the seats weren't bad in that either. Next time I see my chriopractor, I'm going to have him position me in my car properly. I'd suggest doing the same.

Recaro SRD. Pretty similar in construction to the JDM Recaro but not as much $$$. Try them out. I'm not impressed with Acura seats either.

it's not the seats - it's you

your posture and lack of core strength is what gives you back problems.

do core strength exercises like crunches and lying leg lifts.

maybe invest in a new BED at home - seeing as how you lie on that thing 1/2 your life

a new mattress is cheaper than new R seats

try sitting as upright as possibble. do you "lay" the back of the seat at a steep angle? that may be the source of your back pain.

correct seating position info here:

You should be sitting like this:

I personally think ITR seats are some of the best seats around, at least stock anyway... S2000 seats are really nice though

Skip the JDM Recaros, unless you have the extra cash to blow. I've got the USDM Recaro SRD with the manual lumbar option. It's a nice upgrade from stock.

Have you adjusted the manual lumbar on the stock seat? I didn't even know it was there the first month I had the car

teg seats are about the WORSt i have ever come across!!! they KILL my back and i have them at the most upright setting. simply horrible!!!! i LOVE my del sol seat i have in my civic!! very comfy and MUCH more supportive than that POS in the integra!! i also HATE the POS steering wheel, as when i have proper rake angle and positioning for my arms, my knees hit the wheel / hands when i turn. poor design on an otherwise amazing car. for some reason americans weren't privy to the good stuff. thanks again for fu(king over your largest market honda. not sure what i am gonna do, but let me tell you, the 1000+ mile drive from texas after buying the car was simply torture!

Damn, sounds like you and your car need some counseling..you seem to hate everything about it.

I don't particularly like the integra seats either.

this being said, properly orienting yourself can help a ton.

Yeah I know...lots of ppl got back problem but some may not realize it. U may get hurt at work or doing sport eventually. Something that builds up day by day. It's better to get ur back checked before spending a good fortune on seats i guess.

Thanks for the link to the sitting position. I gotta check if i got the right position tomorrow.

I was having the same "back poblems" w/ my ITR seats. I sold them in favor of S2k seats. What a difference! I am totaly in love w/ them! (....and I've had them for over 6 months now.)

I would also reccomend seeing a doctor. I have flat feet and a not so up to par back and my seats never really bother me much at all.
