JDM front end conversion and autox
Next week is the court date for my front end case and hopefully it will end up with my JDM front end. The only thing that I have been wondering is what class would that put me in autox.
I posted this in the ITR room because I know a lot of ITR owners autox, but if you mods feel it need to be moved you can go ahead.
Thanks,
Joey

Autocrossing is for the purpose of racing the car, they could care less what kinda body modification you have, remember it's a race EVENT not a car show.
With a JDM front, I don't think you'd be eligible for Stock class. You'd be in Street Touring at a minimum.
This is just the way I'm interpreting the rules (here). Some clubs may allow you to run in Stock class, but from what I infer, the SCCA won't.

I was just discussing this topic with a friend not too long ago, he seems to have the rule book memorized. Apparently, the JDM front would bump you up to D Mod. Unless you're taking first in your class at every event I doubt anyone would protest. National level events are an entirely different story though.

CSP class is the way to go for mild Mods...
I thought ITR can never be in a Street Touring.. we have LSD yo!
You're right. I completely forgot the LSD constraints for ST: "No limited slip differentials are permitted except for factory standard viscous coupler type units."I agree with Mugen Mike, I don't think many people would protest running a JDM front in Stock class (unless you're miraculously winning every event or something); I certainly wouldn't protest. I know some people would frown upon it though, so it'd probably be a good idea to ask around in your class to see if anyone objects. It doesn't hurt to ask around just in case they will permit it - but don't count on it though; most likely, someone will object.
Bottom line IMHO: if you want to continue being competitive at autocross, I recommend staying with the USDM front. If you really don't care about being competitive and are just there for the fun of it, go for the JDM front.

If you're a novice and the car is otherwise stock, you can get away with it for a while in stock class. Otherwise, you will be in street mod, according to the rules.

I believe that you will have to run in STX.

oh yeah...I forgot to mention that I talked to my local auto-x org and they said that they would not care if I ran DS if I used the USDM bumper rebar. Otherwise, I run in Improved C.
