Default Jdm Style question

I seen some pics of cars in japan, that seem to have like what looks like black tape in the shape of an X covering one of the head lights, mostly i see it on the left head light, whats the point of that? I think it looks pretty cool and agresive, but does it serve a purpose?

Don't think it serves a purpose. It's JDM though so why dont we all put tape on our headlights....

haha, its cause when ur on a track, u dont want your headlight to break and leave stuff all over the ground, so the put tape on it so itll stay together.

true. headlights don't have the safety glass so if a rock hits them stuffs going everywhere, nobody wants that.

how does it look cool and aggressive

if you put it on for "looks" you'll lose nighttime visibility. usually, if people want to do dumb things to their car, i say do what you please. but in this case please dont try it.... for the sake of the safety of other drivers on the road.

yeah, our headlights are plastic, so why bother? oh well, maybe its like back in 98 when all the pro import drag racers used tape all over their cars, remember the good old days?

I'll give you more of a racecar look

hahaha...j/k. it's got no aesthetic reason behind it, it looks ugly but has a use, and if you're not gonna make use of it's use, don't do it.

Um, this has been done pretty much since the beginning of roadracing...

It's not remotely a Japanese 'thing'--it's just a 'thing'.

When I see a pic of a '66 Shelby Mustang roadracer with taped headlights, I don't think "JDM", I think "road race car".

*Sigh*
