EF CRX a/c fit into EF sedan?
bump, i'd like to know about this too... any differences between crx and civic hatch or civic sedan A/C setups? what about any differences from 88-89 to 90-91?
there are 2 different compressors used in the hatches, one of them is a sanden(?), and the other is made by some company (name begins w/m). so I am not sure how easy it can be done.
I want to say the other manufacturer is Mitsuba.... but if I have an entire system from A/C button to condenser from a CRX will it fit in my civic sedan.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a good working a/c for sale out of my 91 Si hatch if you are interested.
Will sell for cheap. IM me.
But back to the topic, the a/c should work just fine. I think all of the a/c systems from 88-91 were the same.

yes there are two different compressors and they are NOT easily interchangeable. the two compressors position the line fittings in very different places. in order to use the sanden compressor you NEED to use A/C lines that originally required a sanden compressor and vice versa.
to answer your question though, YES you can use a CRX A/C system in a sedan. i know because i'm running that setup right now.
my only problem with the install was that the A/C lines i pulled from a salvage yard required a sanden compressor so i could not use my old mitsuba. (just a good reason to get a new compressor)
other than the position of the fittings AT the compressor, the lines are exactly the same.
hth
EDIT: i say that the compressors are not easily interchangeable. i simply mean that you have to use the proper A/C lines with the right compressor.

I agree with what you're saying about not mixing compressor lines of one type with a compressor of the other type. i've tried that and failed. sucked.
O.k. so which brings up the question.... if the button won't fit I'll go snag one from the junkyard. But will the evaporator assembly swap over....
Ryan,
Thanks for the offer... but fortunantly I have this stuff. Good lookin' out though.
But someone else has got to know if the a/c wiring harness and evaporators are compatible......
