my car is burning a little bit of oil. Im now using 5w30 and I think I should switch to 10w40...adding a little 10w40 into the motor as the 5w30 slowly burns off

no, i dont see any problem with this, but when you change your oil i would definatly use one type of oil

Don't add 10w40...it will not fix the problem only make it worse. i.e. gum up the motor. if you are burning oil you should find the problem ....or just keep adding the the correct viscosty oil......

if you want a good (the best) synthetic oil, use Amsoil......philstireservice.com...click on the Amsoil link and see why

each type of oil has its own additions and its easier on the engine if you are brand loyal. i don't know how harmful it is, money's been tight arouund here nd i just switched to a less expensive oil on my cars, no difference, though they are both stock.

of course the amsoil corporate website would say that amsoil is the best synthetic oil. im sure ill find that castrol syntec is the best synthetic oil on the castrol corporate website.
