could a bad O2 cause weird idle?
Yes it could....but if it were O2 then you would experience a slurry of other problem throughout the powerband
yea my EGT's were readin that it was going either really rich or really lean. (before the guage died on me).
Man, i really hope the o2 is the prob, cause if it isnt i dont know where else to look.

Not to argue, but I had a O2 sensor go bad on my other car a month or so back and it screwed my idle all up.....but there were several other problems too, so i only assumed that it was a factor....if its only his idle fluctuatin then it isnt an o2, but if he has other symptoms it could be a problem.....
Yeah don't wanna start and retard argument about silly O2 sensors. Its that I was driving around with a fried one for about 2 weeks and had no problems with the idle. However the car didn't seem to drive normal. I contribute that to the fact that the O2 sensor adjust the a/f ratio when driving in closed loop, or city driving narrow throttle, not WTO.
this o2 bullshit again. and i agree that the o2 wont cause an idle problem.
the idle problem could be caused by a bunch of things. it sounds like you have a vaccum leak of some type. check hoses to see if you have any broken ones.... or you can crab carb cleaner and spray it all over hoses or places that could be leaking, if the car smooths out and almost dies then you probably found your leak.
you could also have a weak motor. whats the milage? might not be getting a nice clean spark.... voltage drops through out the car.... you fans could be turning on and off... as you can see, it could be a number of things. check the vaccum first.

Well, the ecu runs the engine richer (open loop) during sensor warmup, which takes a little over a minute. The ecu doesn't know anything about a/f.
