cool now i know the B series vtec blocks had higher flowing oil and water pumps with better oil pickup...are the H blocks similar?

Between 160 1nd 170 depending on how good the compression is and which engine you started with.

so a 4 door integra would probably be looking at around 14's on a stock motor...i dont suppose 13's with mild bolt ons and good tuning would be unreachable

how well do the stock H22's respond to moderate boosting like say 6-7lbs out of a T4

It's my impression that 6-7 lbs. on a stock h22 is probably max due to the thin cylinder walls.......More boost= resleeving......Correct me if I'm wrong.

I run high 14's on a stock H22 w/ intake and pullies @ 3200 lbs. so translate that to the weight of your 4 door teg. @ about 1 tenth per 100 lbs. weight loss.

It's the piston ringlands that are the problem. if you run 6-7 pounds and tune well you can run on stock internals, just don't up the boost.

Pardon my 5 hp. The ring lands only go after the top ring goes. Here is what I wrote on PO.com. This is knowledge from the Sport Compact Nitrous Injection book.
Broken ring land? The land is the area between the piston crown and also the area between the piston rings. Here's what happens to rings and or lands. Heat is transferred from the crown to the bore through, first the land and then the ring. Ie the crown heats the land and then the land heats the ring which then heats the bore which is cooled by the oil. Because of the huge amount of pressure (usually from power adders) on the top ring it gets heated and is distorted or bent over the top land. Now the top ring is not sitting flush with the cyl wall and therefore not transferring the heat. This leaves the job of heat transfer to the second ring. It can't transfer twice the heat it's supposed to so this leaves the remainder of the heat in the ring land. The land heats to the point where it gets soft. The high cyl pressures associated with power adders collapses the land and pinches the second ring and bye bye rings and sleeves. Not the first ring bec it has no seal bec of its distortion mentioned above. So ring lands don't break, they "melt," and that rarely happens on N/A engines unless you running super lean or detonating creating the huge temps and pressures needed to distort rings and collapse lands. So you could have collapsed the land if you running crazy lean, turbo or some other power adder.
