Default LS/VTEC Bottom End...your opinions?

Alright, i have a b18a1 block that i am using as the bottom end for my ls/vtec project. Im trying to make this as much of a DIY project as i can, but i have some questions. I am going to be running USDM ITR pistons with the stock LS rods with ARP rod bolts. I want to have a little work done to the bottom end, namely balancing the crank and having new bearings and thrusts put in. But ive heard honda cranks are balanced so well from the factory, its pretty much useless.
Second, i want to put new bearings and thrusts in and the place i was gonna go to charges $220 to do this. If i was to order the parts from honda myself. How much would it cost? Thanks for your knowledge in advance.

OEM bearings (which are as good as you can get anyhow) should run you about $100-$110. Thrust washers are only $4 or so each, but they don't go bad....no need to replace them w/ new ones. Good luck!

P.S.-I'm selling my fully built B18A(JE 11.5:1, JE rings, Eagle rods, ARP rod bolts, Blockguard....fully assembled) if you're interested in saving time.
