Air Box
yea i did this mod...but i gutted out everything...even the little fins on the side of the box and some of the top portion of the box...i also used a K&N drop in filter...
i had a "ghetto made" SRI in there at first and decided to go back to stock with a gutted out box and K&N filter...the car feels a lot stronger through out the power band with this mod compared to my "ghetto SRI"...late

hmmm...
don't think i wanna destroy what is probably a $300 intake...
especially since i plan on going turbo by summer...
looks like a good (free) mod though if you run some cold air up to it...

yeah...i DID have that much time on my hands (key word did)...
but i used a chisel which made the process a little faster...would have been even quicker if i had a dremel...
as far as the gain goes, did you reuse the stock filter or did you buy a K&N drop in filter? gains are not noticeable with the stock filter, since it's so restrictive, but you can actually feel the difference with a K&N in place of the stock filter after this mod...
i was tired of heat-soaking the motor with my "Ghetto" SRI and the Comptech ice box was taking forever to come out...i already had the K&N filter so i gave it a try...the next step would be to make the tubing diameter larger on the inlet tube and reroute it somewhere for colder air...late

got bored today and decided to just *** it, i did it.
afterwards i reset my ecu and took it for a spin.
maybe my butt dyno needs recalibration, but i actually noticed a gain.
throttle response felt better in the lower rpms.
and it seemed to pull stronger up top as well.
only other mod is a 2.25" midpipe, this seemed to compliment the midpipe well.
i'd say it's good for a couple HP, maybe even a few.
ps: this mod does NOT add any extra "noise", so hacking it up doesnt really worry me cuz it can still be traded in w/ the hack (not noticeable unless you open up the air box and look inside.
