Default Turbocharging the F22

I have a 90 accord EX and i was considering turbocharging it. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be in the Accord or forced induction forum, but i was wondering how solid the F22 block was. Do i really need to do a rebuild or anything like that or can i just bolt on my turbo stuff and run around 4-6 psi of boost?

here some general knowledge..
F series-good for boost
will hold up to 10, but 7psi will be your best friend for daily driver
that's for stock internal.

i'm running 10lbs on a stock block. i have 100,000 miles on it. i'll tell the power its making on tuesday. i have an appointment at 10am. made 221hp and 238ft/lbs last time. i'll be around 235hp this time hopefully. i may turn the boost up even more. 12lbs is about the max i will go

EDIT - my set-up is with an F23 which has higher compression than the F22 so yours is a little more boost friendly

Also, a friend said that i could get most of my turbo parts off of DSMs. Is this true? Will most of them work out?

the f22b (non vtec) shares the same header bolt pattern as the 4G63??? not sure on DSM motor codes... it's the 2.0L turbo found in 1st and 2nd gen (eclipse, talon, laser) turbos. and apparently the port size is similar in shape and size too. so yes, you could get your manifold, turbo, downpipe, wastegate, what have you... from a dsm turbo. i also hear good things about upgrading with the larger injectors from the dsm turbo (a direct fit i think).

now, if you've got a 90, then it's probably going to have quite a few miles on it... if i were you i would rebuild the motor anyway (even if it is with stock replacement pistons/rings standard overbore) just to ensure it doesn't blow up your first time out.

i have 91 and i was thinking of going boost too.. but the problem is the manifold headers.. most of the ppl i know custom drill the headers for the dsm manifold.. but i dunno if it would create a problem.. the best thing to do is get an old manifold and get it custom made.. shouldnt cost more than 100usd.. or not buy it from somebody who already has a custom made manifold.. or better still if u have money to spend get a fmax kit.. should run u around 2000+++ usd for the whole kit to be installed.. the second problem would be the front engine mount.. i think that is going to be a problem when u install it with the dsm manifold.. it would touch or it would allow it to fit or something like that.. i been doing some reasearch on it.. so that some of the problem that came out with.. good luck.. hope that helps some..

since your car is old, i would suggest either rebuilding the motor or buying a newer one possibly a f22b1. or maybe even an H22 swap.

Uhm, yes it does have a lot of miles, 235k to be exact. I know what your thinking, but the thing was rebuilt at 120k miles. And, it runs like clockwork. Parts have alwyas been replaced in a timely manner on it, and recently when we got the compression checked on it it was perfect and we hadnt had it checked since the rebuild. Also, part of the reason i am thinking of turbocharging it is because it will be so cheap. So far i've priced most of my parts for around 900 give or take about 100. And lastly, about the whole dsm manifold not fitting the engine, anyone else heard anything about it. Thanks again.
