Default Setting rev limits on Hondata s200, anyone else have problems?

Not really FI, but I figured this was the best spot for it. I'm going draggin again tomorrow and am trying to figure out the 2-step (couldn't run with it last time because it was bugging out too)....

OK, so I follow hondata's rev setting instructions perfectly. If I use the car running and the gas, I can correctly set the launch RPM, but not the shift light or shift rpm. If I try the car off method, I can only get a max of 4 blinks out of the hondata before it wraps back around, so there is no way I can set the shift light or rpm to over 4000. Does anyone have any ideas? This **** is driving me crazy!!!

It wouldn't be such a big deal, except for that I shift at 7500 and right now my shift rpm is at 5000 (how the hell it got there is anyone's guess, since default is 6000) and it is impossible not to hit the gas at all when shifting......so what happens is launch->top of first at 7500->clutch in->FUEL CUT TO 5000 AARGHHH

Pisses me off sooooooooooo much.

You are not the only one. Just do a search here as well as Hondata forum. You will find other people are also having the same problem.

I used to have the stage 4 unit and very familiar how the push button programming steps work and never had a single problem (I use the static method). However, as soon as I received the S200 upgrade, the "EXACT" same sequence doesn't work anymore. I've asked Hondata about the possibility of programming sequence or procedures changed for the S200, and was told it should be the same as the stage 2/3/4.

Let me list the steps where it didn't match the stage 2/3/4. Note: These instructions are from the Hondata instruction manual for the stage 2/3/4, as there's no manual for the S200 yet.

1. Turn on ignition but not start the car, keep foot off brake pedal = OK
2. Press the push button once. The check engine light will start flashing the rpm option to be changed = OK (Note: the CEL is flashing one time, pause and repeating = first option)
3. I want to change vtec cross over point, so I press the button one more time. The CEL flashes two times, pause, and repeating. = OK (Note: this is option 2)
4. Tap the brake padel. At this point, the CEL should flash to indicate thousands of revs, from 1 to 9 flashes. IT DOESN"T = failed. The CEL remains off.
5. Try push the button 5 times to see if vtec cross over can be set. As soon as the button is released after pushing it 5 times, the CEL flashes "4" times and repeat like I'm still in option selection mode instead of rev programming mode.

I have Hondalogger so I can set and verify the various settings and that's how I know the push button programming method doesn't work, as none of the settings are where it should be.

I know what you mean guys. It is best to set the rev limits and stuff on the Hondalogger. Works perfectly well.

In the Hondalogger, connect to the ECU. Click the ECU TAB. then type the settings you want.

Would be nice if we could get Hondata to reply to this one. I am also used the push button and would rather use it than going into the Hondalogger. This has been posted a few times on the Hondata forum too and they have NEVER responded to it. Must be a major problem for them to fix it.

I think it would only work if you have the Datalogging option...

Yeah, it's got datalogging (and 3 stage, etc...).....I just never had any idea you could adjust that stuff in hondalogger. Is this in the manual anywhere, because I must have missed it....
I'm going to be sooooooo happy if this works!

No manual, but yes, it will work in Hondalogger.

It not in the manual but it was mention in the S200 HTML file about the shiflight. Rev limits I think cannot be changed.

You need at least the three step option and datalogging to do this.
