Default intercooler on a type r (need imput)

Am considering putting an intercooler on my R. Its still N/A and I plan on keeping it that way. I have had a few ideas about cold air intakes but ultimately, an intercooler would be better than the coldest air intake right????

Whadda ya think... If it turns out positive will post up a few pics of the project!!!

what are you going to intercool? vaccum? get cai.. that will be efficient enough. intercooler is there to cool compressed air from compressor of a turbo, also for superchargers, but keyword is FI, not NA.

So what you are basically saying is that an intercooler would not be more effective than an CAI kit.

Just a thought, if revving at 9000rpm in a 1.8 l engine, thats over 16200 litres of air moving through. A CAI kit from AEM seems way too long for the passage of air to travel. So wouldn;t a short ram pod be the best?

Listen, i dont really care about aesthetics or whatever.. all im interested in is getting the coldest air I can into the engine!!!!

So what youre telling me is that an intercooler would not be better than a CAI kit!!

If you don't care about aesthetics, then drill a big hole in your hood and stick your filter out of that.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo4.htm - read around and you'll get a better idea why what you're saying makes no sence

turbocharger (compressor on intake side and turbine on on exhaust side) has to get air in too.. at that point its nowhere as hot as it could be once it gets compressed through compressor, then it would be wise to intercool on pump gas, eventhough theres pressure drop, it still makes a great advantage, if not saves the motor..

All you'll end up with is less power due to a more restrictive intake setup.

An air-to-air intercooler won't cool the air to less than ambient temperature.

Even if it did provide a slight advantage in intake air temperature, the cost of a decent intercooler would make it the most expensive few horsepower you'd ever buy.
