Cheap alternative to SHort shifter
ok guys My buddie wrecked his Delsol the other day and while we were removing all his parts for the insurance claim we decided to try the DEL SOL shifter on my 98 R well to my surprise the DEL SOL Shifter is VERY VERY short WAY shorter than stock.
So for anyone who wants that OEM quality Honda and wants to shorten the throws when shifting get any year DEL SOL (vtec) shifter and BAM you got your self a cheap OEM Short shifter. GREAT QUALITY AND LESS CHANCE OF SNAPPING IN HALF WHEN POWER SHIFTING

There is another alternative... When I had my Civic, I pulled the shifter out and took it to a welding shop. There I asked them to add 3/4" to the shifter between the ball and the lower pivot... I experimented with a couple of friend's cars to see what worked. Anywhere from 1/2" to 3/4" worked really well. The longer one made it necessary to modify the exhaust hangers so it would clear the exhaust so check how much clearance between your shifter and exhaust before you pull it out.
Cool thing is that the welding shop charged me $20 for it... It worked perfectly.
And BTW, Tommy_Guns, the shifter doesn't really determine shift feel. Since it's a short throw, it's a little more notchy feeling but with the original Honda bushing set in there, it's almost the same.
One more thing. Before getting the shop to weld bits in, you'll probably want to order up the 2 silicone bushings that go in the bottom of the shifter (They were in the Civic and I assume they're in our cars too) because they're not easy to pull out in one piece and they'll melt if the welding is done with them in!!!
