ARP stud re-torque

For ARP head studs....do you loosen them and then tighten them back down to spec? Or do you just retighten them...

Personally, I back them off a tad, then retorque to be sure that I get the proper bolt stretch.

Get a torque to angle gauge (cheap!! 5 bucks!) ...torquing down head bolts is a one shot kind of deal once you stretch them...that's it, if you loosen them after they've stretched then you're just physically weakening them and therefore will lead to premature headgasket failure.
