I did some work for someone and got a small chunk of money. Was gonna save it to work on the car audio in my teg or to buy some cams - and then I saw this little G3 sitting in the shop window
- so I bought it
I lost my old Sony CyberShot a few weeks ago, and just didn't know what to do with myself without a digital camera, so I felt the investment was worth it
The G3 has got to be the best digital camera i've ever used in my life - i'm so happy with the features, and its capable of taking brilliant pictures, regardless of how dumb its user is.
Still trying to learn how to set the camera up in order to take really nice shots.
:: This morning, and this evening - I really need a tripod

:: Proving that the impossible is possible. Fitting two fully boxed 17" monitors along with a computer in the backseat of a teg

:: Pic of my friend tonight while drinking

i'd recommend it to anyone who wants to invest in a high quality camera. takes excellent movie shots too, much much better than the sony can do..
anyone else here use a G3? Care to share some of your photo-taking tips, especially with nightshots?

more pics of my friends & my car..
(just to let you know, I haven't edited any of these pics in photoshop, all I have done is resize them)

Could someone give me some tips on taking nightshots - G2 people? I've heard our cameras are very similar.. I know about adjusting shutter speed to something really slow, like 10-15secs, but is there anything else I should know, apart from buying a tripod?

you need to set up your camera a lil better. im still seeing fuzz and noise with such a good camera.
set the compression and resolution to best setting. set ISO to lowest rating possible. use your focus modes.

Good choice bro, I got the same camera 2 weeks ago and here's some pics I took. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=445027
If u wanna take pics w/slow shutter speeds, I suggest u get a tripod or it won't be clear.

so if the pic ur taking is pretty bright, make sure its like f8.0 or something .. usually the camera does well on its own as far as the light meter, but just in case.

also, if there is a lot of light in the shot, make sure the fstop is a higher number, you wont get such a washout look..

if I remember correctly from my photography classes.. a higher ISO (like ISO400) is used for pictures that are "indoors", pics that don't have much light - so wouldn't you generally use an ISO of 400 for night shots?
also, there's Tv mode.. which allows me to adjust the shutter speed..
and Av mode which allows me to set the f stop. SO how do I adjust both of them to use on the same picture, because from what i can see with this camera, you either use one or the other. I see I also have an M mode, as well as C1 and C2, which the manual says are for custom setups.. plus in the menu, I Have an ND filter, and MF-Point Zoom - what the hell do these do? MTK, teach me.. I have lots of nice pictures to take

For the camera, you could try MTK101 for a quick lesson. lol
