i have a b18c1 and i'm using a chipped p28 and i know that the p28 is not capable of controlling the butterfly valve of the IM. so my question is which runners of the manifold am i using all the time???? the short ones or the long ones?

 

Your secondaries are stuck open. This means you lose about 10 lb. ft. of torque on the low end.

 

Are you sure about that? I thought the butterflies would be stuck closed.

Well if i'm not wrong, the longer, upper runners are the ones your using.

 

I'm not 100% sure, but I remember reading some threads about it a while back and thats what I thought they said.

 

if you think that i'm losing low end torque then are you saying that i'm using the short runners all the time? If your right then whats the point of me getting a skunk2 IM if i am already using the short runners all the time? Isn't that why guys with gsr motors get the skunk2 IM?

 

Shorter runners provide better airflow for top RPM-band power, but give up a little torque on the bottom end. Using shorter runners would move the powerband of the engine up, shifting the torque and horsepower curve. (hope that helps you)
