Default Ahhh the service dept @ Honda. (rant, vent)

As ya'll should know by now I've got a bad O2 sensor. And am in the process of solving it. (want back ground search under my name and pull up the CEL or O2 sensor thread)
I went to Honda today to check and see if they happened to have a Prelude Primary O2 sensor. Just my luck they did. They brought up the price on it and it was $232.00 right there. So I replied well I can get that whole sale @ $175.00. So he said well I might be able to drop the price. WOW Honda doing that. So he tried to drop it to $185.00 but couldn't so he was able to do $200.00 + tax. So I got it. Everything is good I'm a happy customer.
Then I went to the service dept. and asked if they could screw it in for me. Here's the conversation I had with the service writer. (i know him just on a repeat customer basis.)
Me: Hey I was able to get this O2 sensor and was wondering if you could install it at no charge.... I went on to say how I was disappointed from my last visit their (when the charged me $50.00 to confirm code 61)
Him: I'll check with the service techs. ....checks and comes back to say.
"its going to be $90.00 to install the O2 sensor."
I said ok I'll just install it myself.
My thoughts . Here they had a disappointed customer from a previous experience who they should make happy, and how in the world can it cost $90.00 to screw in an O2 sensor.
I understand that they need to make a buck but to do a very small favor i.e. screwing in an O2 sensor is not asking too much.
Maybe midas will do it for $15.

I feel you on that. It took a year and a half for them to stop dicking me around and finally replace my oil burning engine. **** with the money i spent on the warranty and all the hassle it took in that year and a half to get my car fixed (they also broke my tranny somehow while in their shop........) I could have done it myself and rebiult it with performance parts..... oh well just wanted to bitch alittle too.
But yeah they should have made it up to you by throwing the O2 sensor in. It probably would have made you turn around and give them a good review and come back as opposed to this shitty one.....

dude, its really easy to remove and install an O2 sensor, just save your self the money. and save it towards more mods!

but, yeah they should have just screwed it in for you to make you a happy camper.. crappy service..

you have to understand that a technician is not going to just "screw somthing in" for free, thats their livelyhood, they are paid based on labor hours, not by how many hours they are there. screw it may only take a minute or 2, but if Honda says it takes an hour to do it, you hae to pay for an hour. Honda service has a lot of expenses that have to be covered as well, and they have to be sure everything is done correctly.... hell, one of my best friends is a service writer at Honda and i can't get **** for free, but as being an automotive student, i understand now that the techs are paid per job, so i just do everything myself now, saves me money, and i gain experience. your experience has nothing to do with Honda, it has to deal with how the world goes 'round

$50 for a scantest is a good price. We charge $65. We don't usually work for free. Why were you dissapointed?
