Default Si Front Lip: Better Painted or Not?

Do you think the stock Si front lip looks better painted or left black? I'm going to have to repaint mine black anyway because I repaired some scratches and stuff on it. I've seen pics on here with the lip painted the same color as the body, and I think it looked good. But since it's so low to the ground, I would think the paint might get chipped or scratched up. It would be much easier for me to repaint it black later. So I'm pretty sure I'm going with black, but I wanna know what you guys prefer.

I like the way it looks black, But painting it body color looks good depending on what else is done to the outside of the car.

I painted my lip flat black with cheap $1.99 Ace spray paint. I say leave it black regardless of the color of your car.

I painted the lip on my white 90 si hatch and it looked pretty good but I got to like JDM more and more and then I painted it black and it started to chip a lot and you could see the white through it. Just keep it black it looks hot that way, especially if you still have black door moldings.

I personally like mine painted because when you view the car from the side the lip makes the bottom line of the bumper even with the side, then again I have color matched mouldings and door handles as well.

I'm going to have shaved moldings on a red car so it would look better painted, but don't you think it will chip or get scratched fairly easy?

Paint that sucka. I had the stock Si lip on my CRX and it was painted, IMO it looks sooo much better. I had Eibach Sportlines and I hit so many things w/my lip. The only thing that was scratched was the paint on the underside of the lip which you can't see anyways. Hey, just be careful! So I'd say paint the sucka. Even if it does get really really scratched up, you can always paint over it w/flat black spray, so there's nothing to lose if you paint it!

Some people I know have done it and say that it works, but I wouldn't recommend it. After a while, the paint will probably start to come off because the textured bumpers are not really meant to be painted. A majority of the people that do this end up with a crappy looking bumper after a couple years. That's the reason I found Si bumpers for my car.

The DX bumpers can be painted if the right paint and sealer is used. Ive heard of some holding up great and some flacking after a year. Thats what i was told by a local paint shop when i inquired about painting my bumpers. The black just grew on me now i wouldnt have them painted.

About the lip spoiler being painted i vote NO. I dont think they look as good. I like how the black contrasts on the painted bumpers.

My car (the one in the pics above) is a Std... same bumpers as your DX. I had a shop paint it and they added special flex additives to the paint. I've even been rear-ended since the paint job and the paint is holding up fine.
