Hey guys, just bought a 97 SH 2 weeks ago and theres something up with the parking lights (for those who are unaware, the parking lights are basically the lights that turn on at the first notch, the one before your headlights turn on). The lights in the headlights dont turn on (the one on the inside of the highbeams) when they're supposed to, infact, they never turn on. I'm thinking it has something to do with the JDM fog light install, but i'm hoping it would be something else so i dont have to take it apart and everything, has anyone else had this sort of thing happen? THanks!

 

Do you know if the bulbs are good? It's not impossible that they both went out at the same time.

Since you mentioned an install, I am assuming you had someone install the fogs after you bought the car, or installed yourself.

If the wiring to the parking lights was damaged, the only way to check is with a multimeter or through visual inspection.

Do the fogs work? Did the parking lights work before the fogs were installed, and stop working the day the fogs were installed? You've left a lot of blanks in your data.

 

word, you need to tell alittle more. I have the JDM fogs and my "parking" lights work fine. You can hook the JDM fogs up a number of different ways depending on how you want them to turn on\off. Maybe that has something to do with it also. I have mine hook up so they can be turned on\off as long as the ignition switch is in the on position. But if you had them hooked up to turn on when the lights are on maybe someone messed up your wires.

 

Mine turn on when I turn on my parking lights - how do you wire it up differently? (so that you can turn them on whenever, or so that they turn on whenever the car is on, etc.)

 

Its nice out so i went out to take a close look at the car, turns out the previous owner was a moron... I believe he either did it himself, or had someone do it for him, it doesnt really matter, he had LED bulbs in the parking lights, and had them reversed, i wouldnt know why polarity would matter, but i fiddled around and got them to work, he did almost the same thing with the parking light, he switched the signal bulb with the brake bulb, so it looked like the brake light was out... man... what a moron... well thanks a lot for the replies guys...

Oh BTW, my foggies turn on only when my parking lights are on, i'm sure there are many ways to have them on as daytime running lights just by splicing the foggies into a constant vcc, i think theres one around the fuse box...

There are plugs somewhere,( i forget cause i put them in two years ago and threw away the english instructions and only have the japaneese ones)...but there are also four choices to plug them in, ....ill look for the instructions again..... http://www.csua.berkeley.edu/~charles/prelude/fogs.html

EDIT: H AHA HA so your brake light blinked when you were turning?? what the hell was that other guy thinking..... i see people around me with 5th gens taking out one of the brake lights so it looks "different"..... kids.....

hahaha.. looks different... hazard on the road... whichever one... lol... i'm just gonna keep it bone stock.. clean as hell.. and preserve the resale or make the next owner incredibly happy with the SH... lol

I thought it might be neat to make my brakelights blink and my blinkers light up with the reverse lights, cleared of course. ^_^
