city lights are dimmer lights that you can have on instead of your bright *** headlights in well lit city streets where your headlights would be unnecessary (mostly big cities such as Vegas for example).

Most of the people that install them on here are usually for cosmetic purposes ("check out my m4d t1Gh7 JDM City Lights j00!!!11")

also in some of the europe, and I think japan it's required to have at least some lights on no matter if it's day or night. Also city lights have plastic lense instead of glass one so it makes them look clearer, I'm not totaly sure about that one.

ok here you go. go to http://www.jhpusa.com they have it under 96-00 civics. under H.O.P city socket. Basically if you want to attempt this you need to drill a hole into your head light form the rear. This is rather daunting and trying to get a hole for the socket is a pain in the ***. I woudl jsut suggest buying JDM replicas that have the socket holes. Then all you need are the sockets and splice them into your turn signals.

you can buy them off ebay for like $9. it's basically a city light bulb on the end of a bracket that fits around your h4 bulbs so when you put ur bulbs in, it pins the brack secure. then you just wire up a power and a ground wire.

i have a 98 hatch and i bought the "JDM" headlights (no reflector, slighty tinted headlight -- different from the black housing headlights) and they had a space already there for the city lights. I used sockets from an accord and had them wired in with my parking lights.

I have been told that headlights are not allowed in the cities of japan therefore you have to have your city lights on when in the cities. Hence the name city lights.
