Default Engine Swaps for EF ??

Okay, I own a Prelude so Im kinda a newb with this stuff but anyways...

My buddy just bought a rolling 1990 dx. He wants to put a motor in it obviously but I m hearing there is limitations to this because of tranny compatibility.
(cable clutch vs. hydraulic)

He is looking to get a 93 si sohc motor, is this going to be a big deal to swap?

Please shead some light on the world of motor swaps for EFs please.

Thanks
SiCkSrV

PS: He wants that motor because its cheap, I am aware that its not the most powerful honda motor out there.

If it is a DX, before he can do anything he needs to go from DPFI to MPFI, I can't remember the site off the top of my head, but pretty much all swaps you would want to drop in would be MPFI. The 93 SOHC VTEC motor is a potent motor to start with. I've debated it myself, but I know I will eventually want to go up to a B16...you can use an 89-81 Si tranny with that motor so the cable-hydraulic conversion is not necessary. I hope this helps.

there are no limitations , you can use the a cable tranny or just convert to hydro. w the sohc motor your friend can use his dx tranny, but i would rather buy a cable si one for better acceleration (88-91).

So the stock DX tranny will go right into the 93 si motor (what is it any way a D16??)
any way thanks for the info, any more insight will be great

yeah it's a d16z6--the tranny bolts right up---but the dx gearing will rob power--find a Si tranny from a 89-91 rex/hatch. Or buy mine and throw in new bearings.
