Default Hey 2fcknfst!!! (part 2)

I'm looking for a set of the FD rims and I think I'll have a set soon.

What do I need to get them to work with the stock setup? 3mm spacers for rear? In front too?

Where to get those?

And most important, what size tires will fit? (I want the best contact patch possible, but no rubbing... I'm thinking about kumho victoracer 712's...

Thanks!

Yes, 3mm spacers were perfect, front and rear. I made mine myself.

I am running 225/40/16, they still rub on SEVERE loading, but just a bit.

If I were to do it again, I would use a 215/45/16.

Be aware of contact with the rear control arms; if the car is too low, it will definately rub.

2fcknfst,

Thanks a lot! Now do you happen to have the specs on the spacers you machined? Maybe an extra set lying around? Or willing to make me a set for nominal $?

Anyone else know if there's an online place that has spacers in appropriate sizes? I guess I'll check with the local auto-x guys... I think I saw an ad in the back of some car magazines too...

If you have a buddy at a local muffler/brake shop, and you get yourself some 6061 round stock, he can probably put it on his brake lathe and bring it down to 3mm exactly.

The bolt pattern is 114.3 mm, as you know, and the hub is 64mm. The reason I ended up making them is because no one else had them...

H&R makes hubcentric 5mm spacers for the Type R.

Yeah, but I guess I can use Big Phat's suggestion on the spacers and then take them to the brake place and have them machined down to 3mm...

Whaddya think?

Yup, you can do it that way....

However, doing what I suggested will cost you a couple of bucks, where as The H&R setup is considerably more...

And both will work exactly the same.

I guess it depends on what offset rim you use.

I run 225/40-16 without spacers and have no rubbing.

.....exactly.

In a 16x8 and a 3mm spacer putting it back to ?mm, you have to run 215/45's... This prevents rubbing on the rear suspension components.

Does it retain same total overall diameter and circumference of wheel/ tire combo?

Actually, a 3mm spacer brings the offset to 47mm.

50mm only works with a 7 inch wide rim.

Oops, you got me on that one...

I wonder what stock FD rims offset is...

What about lugs? Is it conical or tapered seat? I should really go look...
