just got my engine all back together and im having trouble with ignition timing

Default just got my engine all back together and im having trouble with ignition timing

im trying to get my car back to stock timing after the rebuild. i have the crank and camshaft set TDC. and its throwing my distrib off




shes firing on #3 instead of #1


how would i adjust the dizzy without throwing the camshaft off TDC

it sounds like you might have the distributor 180 degrees out, rotate the button on cam side of the dizzy 180 degrees, give that a try

Just so you guys know. It is impossible to have the distributor installed 180 out.

Do you have adjustable cam gears? How much was the block decked, has the head been machined??

I would go back over cam timing again.

There are two plugs in the vtec solinoid area one is green the other is gray and they can be switched. This happened to me when I was changing the tranny on my del sol, I thought something was up with the ignition but it ended up being those plugs being switched.

does your distrubitor hole match up to bolt on, if not take distributor out match the hole where it can bolt on, make sure the think that goes in and match with the cam rod match up you should be able to move it around to do so. from the look of the picture the distributor is at a wrong position, the slot that screw drive needs to go in and losen the screw should be towards the back of the car.... hope you understand what i am trying to say, don't know the exact term.

K, if you put your timing belt on correctly it shouldn't matter which cylinder is firing first!?
