S1/J1 tranny mated with a LS b18?
Well my money doesn't look so hot about now. I originaly had a LS motor in my EF. The person that was going to buy the motor has said he wasn't going to buy it. My next thought was I was going to buy a motor mount kit from HMO online and a tranny S1 and mate it to the b18. I know it doesn't have the power but I plan on spraying the hell out of it so it doen't matter. Well do you guys think this is a good Idea, and then later on when I get enough money I will get a b16 block and take the LS out and put the b16 in! Sounds good?
This would work. But the main problem here is that the RPMs that you will run on the freeway are not really safe for extended periods of time with an LS motor. If you just need to run this setup temporarily, try to keep your speed down on the freeway.
I have a JDM Y1 tranny mated to my B20. Just do what i did, just swap out the 5th gear with a integra LS 5th. My RPM was at 4300 @ 80MPH but now 3500 @ 80MPH. Make sure to get the mainshaft and countershaft 5th gear set. NIce short 1 - 4 gears w/ a crusing 5th.

I swapped a b18b into a 90civic std with a s1 tranny. The b18 tourqe with the short gearing makes it supprisingly quick for 140hp. IMO if you are running an ls motor and you wanna drag race the s1 tranny is prolly the best upgrade you can do. If you are gonna be spraying it will really move.
Ive played with many of the cable trannies.
I find the jdm S1 to be much better than the jdm Y1.
The Y1 has a 4.266 final, and has different spline than stock
