Whats that hotdog in the Intake?
Some of the new air intakes have this big chamber between the airfilter and the throttle body. Yeah like a hotdog 3" to 5" to 3" What is the purpose of this?
I hear it is to acccelerate the air more into the throttle body. Correct? how?
Also why wouldn't you just go 4" tube and reduce to 3" at the trottle body.
Your veiws please.

it reduces intake noise just like the big ol box looking thing in the fender. Put a short ram on there and listen to how much noise is made. Most people want a nice and quiet engine, but not me.
My 94 RS has one. I don't have a picture of it however. It basically sits halfway down the black intake tube. It's about an inch in diameter and make a 180 turn about 3-4 inches down. It's weird looking and even harder to explain.
Naw that thing your talking about is to collect water, so it doesn't go into the trottle body.
He's talking about something within the intake tract.
You know...the ol' hot dog in the intake....ooo yaaa 8===D
