check engine light came on...reads code 16 (injectors). what?!?!? =)
2 questions here.
(1) is the check engine light supposed to stay on once it throws a code? it only came on once.
(2) uh...injectors? what? i have DPFI, which would seem to mean i only have 2 of them, and if one weren't firing...i'd have SIGNIFICANT decreases in power and fuel mileage, correct? i have noticed no changes and my miles-per-tank hasn't wavered.
i ran fuel injector cleaner through the car about a month ago, it threw the code about 3 days ago. the engine burns too much oil for me to bother with an MPFI swap if i'm going in there anyway, and i don't even want to think about swapping an engine into a STD hatch. what do i need to do?

The check engine light will come on and stay on till you turn the car off and the light is reset. It doesn't reset the ecu, just the indicator. The DPFI cars have a ecu problem. I have a friend that is a 24yr honda master mechanic. He's had to replace a lot of them cause they have injector problems. I've been through the same thing. Don't worry about it if it's not showing problems because of it. Pull the hazard fuse undr the hood to reset the ecu when it happens. Or you can do a motor swap.
i would, but then i'd have to do the MPFI swap and put a 5-speed in there and...well...that's a lot of work for an '88 STD hatch. i'd rather just buy an SI
thanks for the info. i'm just gonna run it!
