How hard is it to install the Final drive and LSD on my tranny? I have a GSR. Is this something I should take to a shop to? and if so does anyone reccomend any places in NYC area? and btw... for people who have the final gear, is there a big difference? How short is each gear?

To install the FD, you have to drop the tranny and open it up to into the gears. Much more complicated than changing a clutch/flywheel. I would have someone professional to do it as I've heard many horror stories of people being brave with just a Helm's Manual. Since dropping the tranny may cause you around $5-700 for labor, it would be wise to install the LSD. Clutch and Flywheel at the same time. Remember to find a big parking lot and do some figure 8's to break in the LSD.

Yeah...DRT gets my vote.

how about you provide some info
1.what FD is it?
2. what lsd is it?
3. what tranny is it going in? (you have a gsr chassis but hell you could have a ls tranny in there for some reason who knows why)

dont be so vague if you want help. the more info the better.

 

I will try to explain this as I know it. I may not be totally correct but I am going by info as I was told. The final drive gear makes every gear shorter but accelerate very quickly thus bringing you to your top speed faster. The top speed how ever is decreased. The LSD allows both wheels to sping when one looses power and distributes the wheel transfer. correct me if im wrong.

what brand Final drive is it? aftermarket oem? ratio?

what kind of transmission is this going into?

 

oem honda final drive oem honda lsd. regular b18c1 gsr motor and tranny

 

If you can't do it yourself, pay a shop to do it.

It will all fit in your GSR tranny.
