My '95 Integra says to adjust every 30k. I usually do it every 20k but most times only a couple of them actually need adjustment.

My '98 Accord says only to do it when it starts making ticking noise. I'm sure I'll check it before 30k or 40k. At least to measure it since its so easy.

They have to be way off to affect performance. It's more about preventing damage.

i usually check em when they start to sound funny... you start to notice exactly when/what youve done to **** up.

on my f22b1 i did one for the first time at like 90k...

ive dont two on the h22a, ive only had it for about 15k miles.

i believe helms says every 60k.

Just did mine on my '98 Civic yesterday (90k miles). Every valve was at least .03-.05mm tight. I guessing when I had the dealer do it at 30k miles, they overtightened them. I haven't done my Accord yet (38k and valves don't seem noisy yet). I would do it once at around 30k just to get a baseline. After that, when they get noisy or when you change the timing belt (or any other time you need to remove the valve cover).
