I am trying to change the timing belt on a 98 GSR motor. Can someone identify all the pulleys labeled in the following picture for me?
I know:
#3 -- crankshaft pulley
I believe #2 is the left over pulley from the A/C. (Since the belt is hanging loosely)
What about #1?

Is that "holder handle" tool necesary to remove the crank bolt? The engine is out of the car if that matters....

Can someone look at the pic up top and tell me if that pulley labeled #1 is for power steering? If so, I need to remove it according to step #2 on the page below. I won't have A/C so the loose belt up top will come be coming out reguadless (step #3) page below:

I guess I just need to figure out what belts are what (just #1), how to remove the crank bolt, and find out if the cruise control actuator is on the motor still. It just started raining so I wont be working on it anymore today.....

#1 Power steering pulley
#2 AC idler pulley
A good impact wrench is the easiest way to remove the crank pulley.

#2 is the idler pulley
#3 is the crank pulley
You will need a tool, similiar to the one pictured on page 6-46, to hold the crank pulley while you loosen the crank pulley bolt. Be forwarned, the crank pulley bolt is torqued to 130 ft/lbs so you may have some trouble removing it. I would recommend a 1/2" breaker bar and about a 6 foot section of pipe to able enough torque to the bolt. Good luck!!!

Thanks a lot for all the feedback so quickly
Guess I'll break the impact out the next time I work on her to get that crank bolt.
Since I won't be running power steering can I remove everything that is outlined in the picture? The bracket as well? I believe the pulley has to stay since it's sandwhiched between the others, right? >>> Actuallt the top pulley can be removed and it looks like the other pulley is connected /part of the crankshaft pulley so it stays!

Thanks again!

you can remover all the powersteering stuff including the pump adn bracket.. and belt of course.
You're not going to be running p/s or a/c?
Ditch the p/s pump and upper and lower brackets and the belt. In your picture you have circled all of that but the lower p/s pump bracket, which you can remove.
Remove the a/c idler pulley from the a/c bracket. Leave the a/c bracket in place as this acts as an engine mount and it's a good idea to leave it.
The crank pulley has grooves for alt, a/c, and p/s belts. You'll leave the crank pulley in place and just not have belts on the two outermost grooves.
Crank pulley bolt is easiest to take off with an impact wrench. So if you have one, use it.

oh yeah, also unorthodox also has a crank pulley with just the groove for the alternator. free's up some weight, since your running no p/s or a/c
