Hybrid "street value" pricing/availability question
I am looking to buy a hybrid but don't know what they should go for.
Being that this is the EG civic/del sol forum I'm pretty sure some of you have bought/sold hybrids. I am primarily interested in EG hybrids with any B-series engine.
What I'd like to know is the following:
1 - I would like to buy a relatively clean EG hybrid with the insurance payout from a recent accident, the payout was $5500, is it reasonable to assume that I could find an EG hybrid for that amount?
2 - If so, what condition hybrid could I expect to find for such a price(what engine etc..)?
3 - If not, what is a reasonable price for a semi-clean EG hybrid?
By clean I don't mean show car quality, I mean reasonably little body/paint damage(small paint chips/door dings ok), mechanically reliable, & fair to good interior condition.

some guys selling a lsvtec in the classifides for 1500 thats never been used. its got some pretty good stuff on it too. i just looked at it like 5 min ago. u could buy that and put it in a car that has like a million miles on it and just get a tranny for it probly for ur price range if u want.
Thanks, I need to get a car though. I don't have time to do a swap. I don't want to use my ITR as a daily driver for very long, my commute is 90 miles a day.
If your commute is 90 miles a day I do not think that a hybrid is your best bet.

if the swap is done RIGHT its just as reliable as stock.
i never had more than 2 minor problems in the year i had my hybrid.
one was an injector going bad (freak accident)
other was coolant temp sensor wich always die on hondas.
never left me stranded, never died on me and i drove it 50 miles a day.

Just my 2 cents
Good luck
like any car, u cant expect to just buy it and not have problems, whenever you buy a car, checking everything and doing maintenance is common sense. i havent had any problems with my hybrid eg, but when i put my turbo on, lots of probs started to come up

Now a turbo setup might not have the same reliability, but still any Hybrid setup can be as reliable as a stock honda if not more so (some f us here are super-perfectionists).
about pricing, for $5500 you can find a lot of good hybrids if you keep an eye out and spread the word you are searching. someone has to know someone else with a debt problem that needs to unload their Hybrid pride and joy
