Super Clean EG, Near Impossible?
well, im getting a car as a graduation gift, and i really want an eg. once the car is bought, everything done to it afterwords comes out of my own pocket. ive been looking nonstop for about a week and a half now for a clean eg (honda-tech, autotrader, carsdirect, a bunch of others). im in the illinois area, and every hatch i find within reasonable distance from me seems to have some type of rust, or damage. is it unrealistic to wait for a mint, or close to mint eg? or should i just go with one of the somewhat dinged up ones?
im so jealous of people in cali, they have so many people sellings cars there....

You've been looking for a week and a half? LMAO! That's nothing. I looked for months for a clean EG and never found one without tons of dents or rust....so I just got an EK. Good, clean EG's are VERY hard to come by. And I was even willing to drive out of state for my car. Good luck, though.

A week and a half? A week and a half? A week and a half?
WOW-Took me about 6 monthes to find my ride
Keep searching my friend, and if you can't locate one to your preferences..Find one thats a little beat up, do all of the body work, and get a nice paint job.
But DAMN, a week and a half??? Come on...

If you do happen to find that 'perfect' hatch, it's going to cost you a small fortune. Think about it....the newest you will find is still going to be 9 years old. It's going to have it's problems.

lets say i find one without any rust, but a few dents here and there. how much does it usually cost to get dents and dings fixed?

Ditto. Dents are usually about 30-40 a peice from what I have seen, with discounts for quantity.

All depends on the size and location of the dents, scratches, nicks, etc. You need to find a good local shop that can help you out. As far as rust goes, sometimes it's hard to avoid. You need to keep in mind every eg that you buy will be practically 10 years or older.

Yup, their is a local place near me that does an excellent job at removing dents. They quoted one of my buddies $200 to remove 4 nice dents and 2 smaller ones.

Yeah, I've never spent less than 5-6 months to find a ride until my current car.

Anything is possible. My first car a EG Coupe was mint, paint looked like it was factory new and the interior was imaculate. My next car, a EG Hatch was also mint, except for one side molding was dented. Took me a month of looking for my first EG, and about 2 weeks for my second one. Just takes time, there is a ton of clean EGs around, even in places that get alot snow/rain in the winter. Just have to be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

I looked around for 7 months cuz I knew I was going to get one with my income tax refund and finally I find one and got the cash, so I buy it. 2 weeks later some lady thinks she can go straight from a left hand turn lane and hits me from the side. Another 2 weeks later I am parrallel parking like a student driver and rip my mirror off against some big *** truck while I am looking into it. I got the worst luck ever!
