What is the "proper" way to wear/tighten your harnesses?

I've been practicing putting them on and getting out of them just in case of some emergency. I can't seem to get the lap belts as tight as they should be. The shoulders are fine, but the lap is loose. haha I said lap, makes you think about lap dances...
Do you tighten the shoulders first then the lap belts, then the lower one? or lap first, then bottom, then shoulders? It's for 5 pt. latch & lock, not camlock y0s.

The main concern is keeping the lap belt "centered" properly.

centered where? in between the legs (over the pecker) or about the belt line or belly button area? I'm just trying to get comfortable in the thing. Where should the lock rest? if it should be resting at all?

I try and keep my camlock around belt line. I snap in the lap belt and sub belt (pre tightened), tighten lap belts, then connect the shoulders and tighten.
