apexi rev/speed vs g-tech...question for apexi r/s owners
i tested out my friend's gtech yesterday. at first i really doubted that it would give me any real results but what i got was infact very close to what it should be (consistent mid 15's on a GSR with only apexi WS). Now i feel like giving the apexi rev/speed meter a shot. it's around $200 so it's pretty affordable. the 0-400m will also be very helpful. and it's hooked up to the ecu, so it should be more accurate than the gtech.
how does the apexi r/s meter work? i know the gtech starts the timer when you launch, but what about the r/s meter? say if i want to go 0-400m, when does it start timing you etc.
those who has the apexi r/s meter, could you help me out?
is this a good buy?
what are your opinions?
TIA

I have one in my integra, you can measure your 0-60mph speed, and then from stop to 1/4mile (400m) and from stop to 1000m (I think) It starts timing the second you launch and stops at 400m (1/4 mile) and shows your time, just like it does if you set it to record your 0-60mph time. It will also show your terminal speed for the distance runs. You will need to get the G sensor though to get more accuarte times, as the RSM on its own does not take into account wheel spin and therefore records the wheelspin as actual distance travelled, the G sensor allows it to distinguish when the car is moving and not moving (wheelspin)
I managed quite a few runs with minimal/no wheelspin and recorded a 15.43 as best time for 1/4 mile, thats with just intake/exhaust and heavy-*** 17s, so its fair to say its reasonably accurate.

mugenracer, thanks for the review. you must have a GSR then right? did you find anything you didn't like about it? thanks
we just installed the older model of the apex-i rev/speed meter. he didnt have a tach before, so this has provided that. it wasnt to hard to install either, just tap into the ecu wires and your set, if you wanna do 1/4 times and such you should use the same street because, i found that if you go on different streets you tend to get different numbers. if you are still gonna buy one, i got an extra one thinking i was going to install it on my nissan truck, but since its old school, the speedometer readings are not through ecu, so im selling it, in original box and all. e-mail me if your interested.
