viper 790 problem!
i just had the alarm installed into a 97 CRV and the lock/unlock would only work sometime??? there's a solid connection of the green/blue wires. everything is soldered in. i can manually lock/unlock the car, but not with the alarm??? can anyone help??? i'm stumped!
btw. i'm getting a good signal from the alarm whenever the lock/unlock is activated. would i have to wire in 2 relays?

If memory serves me well that car requires a strong ground trigger to lock and unlock the doors...so yes you need to add relays or a 451m pack.
thanks for the reply audioroach. you're correct, the crv needs negative inputs for the doors to lock/unlock. could you tell me what the 451m pack is or how to wire up the relays? by adding in the relays, wouldn't that cause it to send voltage instead of a strong ground? also, why would it only work at certain times?
i would definatly install a 451m relay pack to the install.. its pretty easy to install and doesnt take much.. you unplug the green and blue harness from the brain of the 790 or simply splice into green and blue wires from the 790 but then you will need to wire a 12volt power wire for the 451m.. best thing to do is plug it in.. you will need to ground the purple wires coming off the 451 to a solid ground.. then you will need to wire the green/black to the lock and blue/black to unlock, leave the white and brown wires alone, they can be taped off cause they are not needed.. easy install... and you should have power door locks that work correct.y.
shame on that installer! the early CRVs are required to be used with relays. Yes, they still do work without, but as you found out, intermittently.
as suggested a 451M module or just 2 relays will get you back to normal.

i went to circuit city and bought the 451m relay and at the same time i asked one of the tech's if i needed one of these relays for my crv, and he said NO? he looked it up and it did say that NO relay was needed for a crv? could the book and the tech be wrong? i still have the relay but i can return ir if i do not need it. could anyone explain why the alarm only works at certain times? usually all day and not in the mornings....
i'll install it this afternoon and see if it changes anything...it doesn't hurt to try.

sometimes, like for toyota's, you don't really need them, but the alarm brain doesn't give a good enough ground to control the door locks properly. Using the DEI 451M, you can give them a direct path to ground making it alot stronger
