Okay, this is a ghey thread, but I just want to say how much I love the R compared to other cars!! I had my cousin's '03 WRX all day today. Its a 5-speed with an Injen CAI and all this Sti garbage. Anyways he wanted to switch for the day and I gladly agreed. Remember my car is completely stock. So I put at least 150 miles on it and I've enjoyed every moment of it. Let me tell you this; BOOST=ADDICTING. My God does his car pull. The handling is pretty good. And thanks to the intake, I hear the turbo spool and once a let go of the gas, I hear the wastegate chatter; a nice pshhh. Awesome!! But as nice as this sounds; there is a list of things I didn't like:
1.) You can feel the weight of the car when driving and handling.
2.) Your not connected to the car as the R is.
3.) Only thing responsive is the steering wheel.
4.) I HATE THE TRANSMISSION
5.) Lag
6.) Not loud enough
7.) Oh did I mention lag

So anyways, I get back into the R and drive it around and damn I was blown away. Although its not as fast, the power was precise and best of all linear which means NO LAG!! The brakes are awesome. The transmission to die for and the handling; I love get the car's rear end loose. Also the connected feel!!! The whole experience makes me regret talking **** about the R. This day has changed the way I view honda, cause no matter what situation they are in right now, the R will always be the R and the greatest FWD car EVER!!!! Nothing comes close!

damn.. im not sure if i would take an R over a WRX. but who knows. never driven either of them. i love the R tho.

See man these two cars are completely different. The R, I can't see it as a daily driver. This car is meant to be at the track. The car is obnoxious!! The WRX, its just a fast all-purpose 4-door sedan that has a lot of grunt. For a daily driver, its excellent!!! And yes this thing is mod friendly. There are a couply of 10 second WRX around as well. The aftermarket is huge. I mean when the car was stock; The WRX felt a little faster, but the power delivery was horrible. The R on the other hand, man completelely differnt, the powe comes in smooth and the sound, my God, the R sounds AMAZING compared to the WRX. But seriously though, for the street and stop light to stop light racing, I'll take the WRX anyday!!! But for the track, the R is mine!!! I'm actually considering a few cars for various setups now:
1.) Either a used Civic Hatch or GS-R turbocharged for my daily drivers
2.) A '93 Talon Tsi or if I'm lucky a '99 GSX for my drag racing needs.

i think R 100% has better motor, 1.8 195hp N/A compare with 2.0 228 Turbo. i don't have chance to drive a WRX here yet, but i drove 95 WRX 2.2 turbo which was imported from my country , and i drove it for 3 years, the only thing i like WRX better is AWD. Import tuner dynoed WRX 190whp compare to R 163-175whp both lose about 16%, and i expected 4 wheels could do better but it didn't. I remeber there was an artical awhile ago, R compare to some type of Farrari , which R has like 0.1 more hp compare liter to liter, and that shows R really has an unique motor.

BTW, i love my R as daily drive 1) comfortable for me with A/C, power steering, stereo system. full interior 2) nice and easy handle 3) i hardly see more than 1 R on the same road 4) ppl always give me for my R 5) chicks!!!!

I really have nothing to say after i bought R, the only thing would be the motor is too hot

I've put 10K on my R since October, all daily driving.

It's wonderful. I used to own an 01 LS 5-spd, what a difference.

 

Yeah, the R is the R because of the sound. Usually sport cars are louder than your average car. I guess I'm too used to the R, because when I got into the WRX, the car was quiet as hell; thus a boring ride! The R on the other hand gives me a bigger thrill because of the whole experience; you can hear the car climb through the revs, you can feel every bump on the road, etc. You know what I'm trying to say.

I personnally drive my R everyday and love it. It does take getting used to feeling every bump in the road but you can never over look the long term reliablity of an Acura.

i been thinking about getting other cars, like s2k, 350z....but damn....i love my R. i might just have to get another car and keep the R too.

I love both cars my friend just picked up a sc00by after owning a hatchcrap. Hes ordered crazy amounts of parts for it and Im sure it is going to be fast. I dont really like the WRX stock though...but the aftermarket can make the car amazing. And I also see no problem using the R, stock or not, as a daily driver

 

In actuallity, my cousin originally wanted the R. To this day he still wants one. He LOVES it. He says the pimp factor on the R is HUGE compared to the scooby. Reasons he wouldn't get one is because its too loud and bumpy. And besides, once you go with a turbocharged car, its hard to go anywhere else. After all, he's the one who initiates the trade all the time!!

Man I was once one of those people who wanted to trade my car in for a scooby, s2k, 350Z, or a CL-S 6-speed. The only cars that came clost to the feel of the R was the S2000 and 350Z. After getting a ride in a S2000, I came to the conclusion that it feels just as fast as the R with its only advantage being RWD. Driving the CL-S, this car is just good for straight line performance; its FAST, but its not an R. The scooby, well the car is fast, but its hard getting used to the lag and plus the whole car is clunky. The 350Z, man for the price you could never beat it, but I'm not that willing to let the R go. So in reality, I don't think I'll ever get rid of the R; I'll just add to the stable. I'm highly considering the new Volvo S60 R. I've been a Volvo fan/owner for a long time now and there's nothing but praise for it. For the price you pay and what you get, nothing can touch it, and plus its prolly the most reliable European car out there. The hard part is trying to find one!!
