What part of the engine is the knock coming from? The bottom end or head, and how loud is it? I wouldnt recommend driving it anywhere

You need to go get it checked out ASAP. Is it like a clunking noise from the internals?? If so, don't wait any longer. These are signs of an engine about to go, I know because it happened to me.

Well my headgasket was gone, and my crankshaft was done. I noticed a faint clunking sound the first day, then gradually increased on the second day (even after adding a little oil). By the third day, I was on the highway and the sound got increasingly louder and the motor got sluggish, by the time I pulled off the highway and made it to a light (in efforts of heading to a shop) the motor just gave out on me. It turned over and started, but the clanking was very loud, and you needed to give it more gas than usual just for it to move. Definitely had a blown motor. I suggest you have it checked out, unless you want to check yourself if you have the tools around. In my case, it was my crankshaft.

If its coming from inside the block then maybe you should get it towed to someone who can properly diagnose the problem... If I heard a knocking sound from inside my block I'd freak! Goodluck...
