Daily driving...6 puck clutch?
Getting as a trade; Xtreme PP with 6 puck metal with no springs. Seeing that I have no money and need a clutch really bad, Anybody drive this setup on the street? I am expecting an On/Off kind of engagement from this, but (from those who have it on their street cars) How bad is it really? Can it be slipped enough to be drivable in traffic? What about noise?
i had this setup for a week. it was horrible. my car had to rev to like 4k just to get it moving from a stop...i couldn't downshift without matching revs (which was incredibly hard) or i couldn't even put it in gear. don't do it. it is a full out race application.
no springs?!!! HELL NO!! you will sooo regret not having a sprung clutch. trust me. i ran on a hyperclutch 6puck unsprung for like 2 weeks. worst 2 weeks of driving ever. driving in traffic was such a chore. i swapped it out for a sprung one. its wayyyy better

personally i like the 6 puck unsprung clutch , barely let it out and it engages (sp?) . yea its hella stiff but you get use to it in like a day or two .
i have no problems w/ it

i have the hdss clutch with a hd pressure plate and an 8 lbs flywheel. It sucks in traffic so I can't imagine how a six puck with an extreme pp is going to be. Are you using this for street or strip.

.
i loved my 6 puck and it actually lasted 25,000 more miles than my stock clutch. I drive in traffic everyday with it and it is fine. It can be annoying but it isnt that bad. It did grove a deep *** hole in my flywheel so now that has to be replaced too, but i will be getting another one this time around. It was on and off but after a week or too you will learn to shift it smooth. The only thing thats weird about it is when you drive your buddies car with a stock clutch and it feels like there is no clutch at all.

BAD IDEA!
We have a 4 puck on our Turbo NOS H22 drag car at work, and you have to be atleast 3 grand to launch, theres no way in hell you could be street driving a 6 puck..

how did u grove a deep hole into the flywheel? does that happen when u ride the clutch? if not how does it happen
I'm running a 4 puck ACT unsprung disc and I'm having no problems running on the street. It takes about 2 weeks to get used to the feel, and by then, it's just like any other clutch. Only this clutch can grab DAMN hard when you need it to.
Another thing with pucked clutches is that most of the time, it's a metallic material, so there will be occasional squeaking.
My friend's Supra has a 6 puck Clutchmasters unsprung hub and it's pretty hard to drive. I'd imagine it would take slightly longer to get used to. I stalled many times on his, while never stalling on my setup.
i just replaced my clutch still breaking in the motor so i cant tell you how well it grabs, i got a 6 puck with a street Pressure plate and it took some getting used to. I got the sprung hub. I say go for the 6 puck SPRUNG hub you'll like it.
the material is copper so as it wears down it also wears the flywheel and pressure plate a lot more than a regular disc would.
My buddy had a 6 puck unspring with heavy duty plate. It was the greatest feeling clutch in the world. Relativly light pedal feel (slightly stiffer than stock) but the thing grabbed. If you have an Xtreme pressure plate with 6 puck it'll grab twice as hard. I have an XTSS and its VERY easy to drive. Took me about 2 hours of driving to get totally use to it. I havn't stalled it once (unless im joking around with friends and leaving it in gear when i park or something like that).
The xtreme pressure plate with 6 puck will grab very hard. If that's what you want GET IT. drivability takes only hours to get use to. And if you have to rev beyond 3k to get it to engage smoothly then you're letting it out way to fast. I do realize that the dashboard will shake if you do it too low, but that just means your letting it out to much. VERY little increment make it great.
get that clutch and be happy with it! a very very grippy clutch etc.
any questions, PM me.

yeah i did it once before...it destroyed my flywheel, not to mention it was the worse to drive on the street with. i would never...ever ....ever again get another unsprung clutch. i guess that's why i like my centerforce so much...what an upgrade(or ease of driving) from that 6 puck.
I had my 6 puck unspung act clutch for about 5 months now and I love it. Took me about a day to get used to it. In traffic it will give you a little work out but youll get used to it. Also with me using nitrous the clutch is a must.

also... to those of you who say they tear up their flyhweel surfaces, were you running stock a stock of aftermarket flywheel?
