Default Need help diagnosing clutch/transmission Problem :(

Details:

At first, the car drove fine. Then, one day while getting on the interstate, It took about 2x as much pressure on the shifter to actually make it go INTO gear. It wouldnt grind or anything, but just harder to insert into gear.

The shifer was nice and loose as usual, just tuff to put into gear. This was in all gears. Primarily down shifting.

Two days later, more symptoms occured:

When coming to a stop, while in 1st gear for example, as soon as I would push in the clutch, you would still feel it jerk and engage almost in like a rotational manner. As if the clutch was just grabbing for a split second then would go away.

I knew there was an issue so, I took out hte transmission and..

The fork looking thing fell out of the transmission. Perhaps me grabbing on the hydrolic assembally on the transmission caused this but I would doubt it. I took some pictures of everthing so every one could get a decent idea and make a better determination.

The clutch hooked and worked great So, I really hope thats not what was wrong.

heres the pics and thanks for any suggestions I get.

if the clutch doesnt fully disengage it would be hard to shift gears.

btw: "fork looking thing" that just fell out is the release fork

Here is something to check. Unbolt and remove the pressure plate and check the friction disk. See if any of the spings are damaged or misaligned.

I recently had a similiar problem and when I disassembled mine, I found that one of the springs had nearly worked itself out of the pressure plate and it was preventing the clutch from operating properly.

Same thing happened to me. Also, how many miles you have on your clutch?

thanks for the responces. I guess Im going to by a new flywheel / clutch / throwout bearing and see what happens.

Im assuming all the transmission parts ( ie fork and hydrolic boot) will just go back togather.

btw, the cooland just dripped from the engine. I pull the radiator to make extra room. It only takes 10 minutes to take out.

Im having the exact same problem, but mine starts to grind when i shift sometimes into gears. But its not necessarily just one gear, sometimes its 3rd, sometimes its 4th or 5th! And downshifting to 2nd from 3rd just doesnt work, unless im at low rpms. Could it be the synchros or something else? My buddy told me it could be just the throwout bearing. But does this mean im going to need a new clutch??? Someone please help!!!!

I had occasional grinds also.

What do you mean slave cylinder? How can I check it? I dont want to go tohrough the pain of installing the clutch flywheel and tranny and the problem still exist.

Sounds like your syncro's are going bad. 3rd gear grind is very common.
