Need an engine for my 89 civic cx
I recently aquired a 1989 honda civic cx with a blown motor in it for $200.00. I do not want to get another 1.5 engine. My question to you is what would be the best engine to drop in my car at a low end budget. I can get a V-tec motor with trans and computer for $1950.00 canadian. I am not to familiar with the civics as i have driven a mustang for the last 3 years and am just getting into the import scene. I want a little more power then what the 1.5 puts out but nothing that is gonna blow my budget. Is it a good idea to run a v-tec b16amotor in a 1989 civic cx or should i stick with a 1.6 si motor? also i hear i will need new engine mounts,as well as replace my cv axles and get a shift linkage, will my 1.5 not cv axle not be compatable as well as my shift linkage?. What will be the problems with installing a V-tec motor in a car such as mine if any? any more info that you can give me about an engine swap that i have not listed would be great, the car itself has rust in the usual spots where these cars rust out, but all in all she will be a really good project.
All in all would it just be better for me to get myself a D16A8 motor and what would be involved with an engine swap such as this??????

well b16 would deffintly be the way to go. Best "bang for your buck" and they haul..I think you can modify your shift linkage you have, but CV axels are gonna have to go..I did the swap in my crx and got 91-93 Acura Integra axels..you can get any type of mount kit you want, such as HASport or whatever, but i recomend you do the swap its cool.

jk.....anyways first it's VTEC all in capitol letters. The D16 is a good motor but since the D15 is blown up I'd just buy yourself a B16A1 and call it good since there not that expensive. You could do a mini-me swap but for the money and labor B16 is a better route to go in my eyes. with the B16 you'll need to hammer in the frame a little since the alternator pulley doesn't clear by 1/2", differnet mounts, differnet shift linkage, and add 4 wires, 90-93 Integra axels
If you were gonna get a D16 the stock mounts will work other then you'll need a front mount and a different distributor and have to convert your wiring harness from HF to Si.
