A/C Problems
I have a 94 accord lx and have had just about every A/C part replaced and I still can't get my A/C to work. I took it to the dealer and they told me that I need to replace my ECM and from what they told me that is $$$$$. I have gone through 2 compressors in a period of about 3 summers. I really want to get this fixed once and for all before it gets hot again. Last summer it worked for a little bit then one day I had water leaking from the passenger side in large amounts until the AC stopped working altogether. Please I need your help before I melt this summer
Honda said that it could be my ECM but if that were the case then wouldn't all the other electrical things in my car stop working as well....so I'm not too confident with what they told me and would like to get someone elses opinion if anybody can recommend any shops in NJ or tristate area where I can get this checked out at.
I dont see why your ECM has anything to do with your A/C not working...
Has it been tested for any leaks in the system?
Hope your using the right refrigerant...

Remember that the ECM is able to cut off the A/C compressor at WOT and under other operating conditions, so it's not out of the question that the ECM is causing the Compressor to not engage.

It's very possible that it could be the ECU. I just replaced the ECU in mine the other day because I was having this annoying problem where the check engine light would come on ONLY when; 1)A/C was on, and 2)going slow (parking lots, etc), stop & go traffic, etc. When I had the A/C fixed about a month ago, the shop was having a problem with no power getting to the compressor clutch, and although I don't know what they did to fix it, I have a feeling that ECU had something to do with it (since is has been under water twice now, and turned on while submerged both times, lol). I got another ECU at the boneyard for $15 and it completely fixed the problem. My old ECU still worked perfectly fine for everything else, it was just the a/c part that was screwed up. Just make sure on the one you get (if you do decide to do that), that the model numbers match EXACTLY. I made that mistake with mine, and found out the hard way that, although the cars are identical, the 88 LX-i brain is different from an 89 LX-i brain. Had to go back and get another one.
