Default Look what happen to my oil return line...

well I'll let the pictures talk...

and this is what I replace it with:

the oil retrun was a little bit to close to the dp... so yesterday when I came back I had no oil in my engine... and my DP was cover in oil... which let me to find this hose... hopefully I didn't cause damage to the engine...

i think keeping the rubber and covering it in thermal-wrap is a better option. but no bling blingyness.

Remember to keep your new SS line a distance away from the downpipe or your new line will also deteriorate as well.

shouldn't you also cover the stainless line in thermal wrap? I think the stainless braid doesn't offer any insulating properties, so the rubber could still melt.

MinorObsession had the same thing happen to him...except he used radiator hose, and the rubber self-deteriorated.
Lets just say after an hour road trip from the track, he developed a nice case of rod-knock. He now has another B16 shortblock going in...luckily they are a dime a dozen...
good luck...

i used pure silicone hosing. good for high temp resistance. heater hose won't cut it (obviously)

well it would have hold but like I said in my first post the hose was very very close to the dp.... that was the cause of this problem... when I got the hose it was twice as long and I trim the hose without putting the DP through. Then realize ooopps DP is going to be rubbing on hose.... I knew something like this would happen eventually just was waiting to get a bigger hose... good thing I got the ss right after this happen... ask Mase for better description lol.....

I dont think the SS line is the answer. If the ss line gets hot, it will actually cook the runner hose inside the outside since its metal. Id look into some wrap for whatever line our gonna run so you dont have this problem again.

I'll look into that but I doubt I'll have the same problem again. The new hose don't come close to the dp at all, like the previous hose did...

Where are you guys getting the thermal wrap to cover your return lines with? Is this the same as the orange fire jacket stuff people use?

Yeah, the blue Aeroquip hose you burned has the same temperature rating (300 degrees) as the stainless braid hose. I just bought a foot of the same type of blue Aeroquip hose you burned for my car, but also ordered the fireproof hose to go along with it. That stuff is great. If you melted this hose, you'll melt the stainless braid. Get the fireproof hose to cover it.
