*%#@ ABS light
I have a 94 Accord EX. Last September the ABS light came on one fine day while I was driving. I immediately took it to a garage. A hundred bucks later, I was told that the mechanics had no idea why it was on. All they could tell me was that the problem was in the right rear wheel.
Since I still had brakes, I decided to let the problem go until I had the dough to pay for it. But as winter progressed, I noticed something. Whenever the temperature is below freezing, or whenever it is snowing, rainy, foggy or damp, the light stays off and I have antilock brakes. But whenever the weather is nice and the sun is shining, the light comes on. Now spring is at hand and the light is on more and more often.
Can anyone give me an idea what could be going on? I do not want to be jerked around by mechanics taking advantage of my ignorance when I take it in (has happened before!)
Thanks,
Vicki

first off. check the code for yourself and see what it tells you. sounds like they already checked it out and it threw them to the right rear whell but you never know.
do a search for the codes.
do a search for the codes.
The 1994 to 1996 Honda Accord is know for bad ABS Modulators. You should see a big rectangular resovoir in the front of the engine compartment on the driver's side of the car. Check to see if it is full of brake fluid. If it is not ... there is your problem. You would need to replace the Modulator assy and Accumulator ... which at a dealer will cost in the neighborhood of $1100.00
Your best bet is to take it to someone reputable and have them run the code though ... unless the modulator (resovoir) is empty ... then I can almost guarantee you that that is the problem. You do NOT have to necessarily have this repaired as it is a seperate braking system and is NOT tied into your main brakes. You will no longer have the ABS part of the system ... but you will still stop without any problems.
