Default ep3's E.P.S.

ep3 owners or anyone who has experience w/ the ep3's E.P.S. (electronic power steering), what's your opinion on them?

I've had a chance to drive one some time ago and I think its a bit to the "light" side... not a lot of feedback.

I woulnt think that the feedback differnce is as much due to the EPS as to the tires and suspension setup on the EP compared to what your are used to.

EPS is not a full drive-by-wire system programmed for feedback, but just a replacement of the traditional hydraulic aid with a "threaded bar" electric motor.

When I switched to Azenis from the OEM tires, I noticed much more feedback.

yeah, stock tires suck a$$... I want to get a set of Azenis for my dc5 too, but too bad they don't come in the size I want (225/50-R16)
might get a set of AVS ES100's

so how does the "threaded bar" electric motor exactly work on the EPS?

I just got 225/50/16 Falken ZIEX 512's --- Excellent tires... azenis for all weather --- better for autoX.

I took mine out and made this cutout for you:

j/k

The EPS originally was on the NSX, and here's a pretty good page explaining it:

I'm not a fan at all unless I'm just cruising down the freeway. The EPS feels very numb in comparison to a standard power steering pump. At least Honda gave us a fairly agressive steering ratio to make up for it. I'm curious to see how it does at the track next month and I'll make sure I do a review for you guys that are wondering.

thanks! It was good info
it's a pretty sophisticated piece of equipment compared with the traditional PS system with the control unit and all...

I guess all ep3 owners can switch to manual steering by simply cutting power to the eps for more road feedback
