Lug Nut Problem
I got a set of 17s and they vibrate sometimes around 65-75 mph. Some guy at the speed shop told me that I got the wrong lugs for the wheels on them, i thought he was bull ****. The wheels were just balenced also.
Could lugs cause this problem???

i got the wheels from wheelmax.com and they came with lugs. I do not know if they are tuner lugs or not, but i would guess not. That ******* company sucks. They didn;t even supply hub centric rings, they claimed they are not necessary.
There's conical/tapered/tuner lugs and acorn lugs. If they have rounded/bulge seats it is acorn. If it is slanted but straight seat they are conical. You probably need conical lugs for aftermarket wheels. And yes it is important you have the right one... lugs can back out and strip the wheel studs, or even worse break the studs and the wheel fall off.

Balance issues are always right around 60mph, and come on and go away like a switch being turned on/off.
If the wheel was not "centered" or "seated" correctly b/c of bad lugs of no hub-centric ring, you would notice the vibration at ALL speeds.
Try putting the back wheels o nthe front and the fronts onto the back- if the vib goes away, your problem is balancing.
It also depends on how they balanced the tires- a static balance (weight in drop center of rim), just putting the weight on the inside of the rim, or with weights on both sides of the rim also can make a diff. Putting weights onto just the center or inside is not as good a balance.
Make sure they use STICK-ON weights too- so they do not mess up your rims.

Yes, lug nuts are probably the problem. My friend forgot his set for his Spoon rims for the track and when we were going around the road course the lug nuts vibrated loose and we had to cut the session short to re-tighten them. So be careful as well. You don't want to lose a rim or your life.
The consensis seems to be pointing at balencing. Are these wheels that hard to balence.
Why do I have stupid *** problems like this all the time...
