Default What axels do i use with a Y1 tranny...(i've done a search already)

I have read over the Hasport write up on axels numerous times, i have called numerous places asking which ones to use, but have gotten different responses from all

I now own a set of 88 integra axels with half-shaft as well as a set of 94 integra axels with half shaft

$400 later, Neither set works with my Y1 tranny

with the '94 integra axel set, it is too long, with the 88 integra axel set the length is perfect, but the intermediate shaft does not spin while it is in the tranny

This is my first and most definitly last honda swap i will ever do, this swap is becoming the biggest headache ever, I have given up on the car, almost every attempt i have made to try to get this motor to work in the car has failed, the motor dropped in smoothly, and everything worked in that aspect, but i can't seem to get the axels right

if some one could please help me by telling me the right axels to use, i would appreciate it, every bit of free time i have had in the last 10 days has gone into this car and i am ready to just forget the car and pay a shop to do it

90-93 Integra axles and half-shaft, if you haven't already tried that combination. Also, don't forget to remove those seals on the ends of the axles.

Bro, i had the same problem with my car.... prevented me from driving my car for an extended 3 weeks, **** happens.

I have the y1 tranny, and it came with the sir intermediate shaft. I bought the 90-93 integra axles, and they were too long. MY CAR WOULDNT MOVE. Jacked it up and i couldnt spin the tires by hand while in neutral. What i ended up doing was getting a 90-93 intermediate shaft. Problem solved.

To use the 94+ half shaft u need to get a new seal for it... To use the sir half shaft, which probably came with your y1, u need the 86-89 integra axles, with 90-93 inner cv's. I have like 5 of these in my garage if u need them....

Also make sure you have removed: 1) the hub ring, 2) and the dust shield on axles (if they came with them) according to the hasport site.

My motor didn't come with a half shaft, so i didn't know what to use, but it looks like 90-93 axels with half shaft are the way to go, so i will try this combo and see what happens

Thanks

Does anyone have any 90-93 intermediate shafts for sale?

Yes, there is. There are three differences. One is the tulip on the inner joint. It is deeper on the 1990-1993 Integra axles. The other is the shaft itself. It is longer with 1990-1993 Integra axles. And finally, the outer joint is different. 1986-1989 Integra axles use an outer joint similar to the 1988-1991 Civic/CRX. With these axles (or hybrid axles using 1986-1989 Integra outer joints), there is no need to remove the dust seals on the hubs.

With this said, the ideal axle for B-swaps on 1988-1991 Civics/CRXs is neither the 1988-1991 Integra axle nor the 1990-1993 Integra axle. Rather, it is a hybrid axle made using the inner joints from 1990-1993 axles and the outer joints and shafts from 1986-1989 axles. The resulting axle is identical to the actual JDM SIR axle and is an OEM Honda perfect fit. This is what I am using on both my cars. And I recommend them over ANY unaltered USDM axle (1986-1989 Integra or 1990-1993 Integra). They are also more likely to work with the Y1 intermediate shaft. But even with these axles, the 1990-1993 Integra intermediate shaft works better. And as I said before, there is no need to remove the dust seals.

One more thing. If you got a JDM swap with cut axles, the inner joints (if intact) can be used in lieu of 1990-1993 Integra inner joints.
